Stroke Neurology Nurse Practitioner / APP – Burlingame, CA

Location: Burlingame, California\
Start Date: ASAP, targeting January\
Assignment Length: 3 months, with the possibility of extension

Schedule

- Three 12-hour shifts per week
- 7:00 AM–7:00 PM
- Approximately 13 shifts per month
- Includes weekend rotation
- Coverage requirement: 0.9 FTE

Position Overview

Seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner or APP to provide inpatient coverage, primarily supporting Stroke Neurology. The majority of the patient population consists of stroke neurology patients. The provider will also support Neurointerventional and Neurosurgery services, which have a lower patient volume.

This is an inpatient consulting role requiring providers to follow patients throughout the hospital, including the ICU.

Clinical Responsibilities

- Provide inpatient Stroke Neurology consultations and follow-up care
- Support Neurointerventional and Neurosurgery services
- Evaluate and manage adult patients throughout the hospital, including the ICU
- Work collaboratively with neurologists, stroke managers, and the existing APC team
- No special procedures required

Patient Volume

- Adults only
- Typically no more than 10 patients per day, depending on consult volume and service needs

Clinical Support

- Stroke managers and neurologists
- Two current APCs available to assist with precepting the locum provider
- Proctoring of 6 patient encounters required to satisfy credentialing requirements

Facility Details

- Setting: Inpatient only
- Hospital Size: 300 beds
- EMR: Epic

Requirements

- Minimum of 2 years of experience in Stroke Neurology, Neurointerventional, and Neurosurgery services
- Experience with inpatient stroke neurology, Neurointerventional Radiology (Neuro IR), neurosurgery, and external ventricular drains (EVDs)
- Board certification required
- Active California license required before starting; candidates who need to obtain a California license will be considered
- DEA registration required
- Prescriptive authority for controlled substances required
- NP certification required
- BLS and ACLS required
- ENLS certification preferred

- Approximately 3 months
