Hiring - Permanent Role - Medical Director - Hospital Medicine - Syracuse, NY
Job description
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Medical Director to lead a Hospital Medicine program within a respected, community-focused health system. This full-time, weekday leadership role oversees all aspects of inpatient hospitalist services, ensuring high-quality, safe, and efficient patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic and operational leadership to the Hospital Medicine team, including performance oversight, quality improvement, and clinical workflow optimization.
- Collaborate with administrative and clinical leaders to implement best practices, enhance patient outcomes, and maintain regulatory compliance.
- Support provider recruitment, retention, onboarding, and ongoing training initiatives.
- Oversee daily operations, documentation standards, and departmental performance metrics.
- Maintain a full-time schedule, typically 40–50 hours per week, Monday through Friday.
- No weekend and no on-call responsibilities.
Qualifications:
- Board Certified or Truly Board Eligible in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine (must become BC within 2 years if BE).
- Minimum 2 years of leadership experience in an acute care setting.
- Clean malpractice and licensure history.
- Active state medical license or willingness to obtain.
Additional Details:
- Experience with inpatient hospitalist operations and EMR systems (EPIC preferred).
- Not accepting new graduates, locum candidates, or visa-dependent applicants.
- Lead and oversee a high-performing Hospital Medicine team , driving quality, safety, and efficiency across inpatient services in a full-time weekday leadership role.
- Collaborate with administrative and clinical leadership to implement best practices, optimize performance metrics, and support recruitment, retention, and provider development.
