Job description

Locum / Locum-to-Perm – Urgent Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant

Schedule:

3 days per week
12-hour shifts, typically 8 AM–8 PM+ depending on patient flow
Clinics are open 7 days a week
No call
Opportunity available as soon as credentialed until a permanent provider is hired
Potential for locum-to-perm transition

Practice Setting:

100% outpatient urgent care
Broad patient population from birth to death
Approximately 25–50 patients per day, with volumes potentially increasing during cold and flu season
Epic EMR

Clinical Responsibilities:

Laceration repair, suturing, and stapling
Incision and drainage, including packing
Foreign body removal and minor burn management
Skin lesion care
Orthopedic injury stabilization, splinting, and casting
Joint reductions
EKG evaluation and X-ray interpretation
Point-of-care testing and lab interpretation
Epistaxis management
Cerumen removal
Nebulizer treatments and initial emergency stabilization

Requirements:

Board Certified – Required
Active Virginia license – Required
Active BLS – Required
Active DEA – Required
Minimum 1 year of recent ED/ER, primary care, or urgent care experience
Clean background with no malpractice or license issues
Epic experience preferred
Local candidates or candidates accepting an all-inclusive rate preferred; no travel reimbursement available

Compensation:

Competitive hourly compensation
Overtime: 1.5× the regular hourly rate for applicable hours beyond the scheduled shift/workweek
No call pay

Credentialing:

Estimated timeframe: 60–90 days
No temporary privileges available
