Neonatal & Nursery NP/PA Needed in Oakland, CA
Employment: W2 Locums
Start Date: 10/12/2026
Contract Length: 26 weeks

Schedule
Full-time only
3 x 12-hour shifts/week
Days, nights, weekends, and holidays required
No call
Primary posted shift:
7:00 PM–7:00 AM

Practice Details
Hospital setting
Support staff includes:
Neonatologists
Pediatric Surgeons
APP colleagues
Administrative staff
Neonates from birth through 1 year of age
EMR: Epic
Department
Level IV NICUs across two facilities
Provides care for newborns and infants with:
Cardiac conditions
Pulmonary conditions
Gastrointestinal disorders
Other life-threatening neonatal illnesses
May be cross-trained to cover the Newborn Nursery
Hospital sizes:
San Francisco NICU: 58 beds
Oakland NICU: 38 beds
Newborn Nursery: 10+ patients/provider
Responsibilities
Function as a primary member of the neonatal care team
Independently manage inpatient newborns and infants
Provide comprehensive neonatal care in a Level IV NICU
Care for infants from birth through 1 year of age
Meet productivity expectations established by the Division Chief
Perform all patient care duties appropriate to the APP role
Will not manage ECMO patients (covered by NICU fellow), but may care for patients before ECMO initiation and immediately after decannulation
Requirements
Board Certified
Active California license
DEA required (must have a California address)
BLS required
NRP required
Must have 2–3 years of Level III/IV NICU experience

For Nurse Practitioners
Neonatal Nurse Practitioner certification (NNP-BC) required

For Physician Assistants
Master's in Physician Assistant Studies or Master's in Medical Science required
Credentialing Requirements
Must have CMS Medicare and Medicaid enrollment submitted through credentialing prior to the first clinical day

Float pool position
Opportunity to work across multiple Level IV NICUs
Cross-training to the newborn nursery may be required
COVID-19 vaccination and booster required (medical/religious exemptions only)
