Position Overview
• Specialty: Neurosurgery
• Coverage Needed: 24-hour beeper call
• Schedule: 1 week per month, every other month (potentially every 2 months)
• Clinic: None – call coverage only
• Assignment: Long-term locum opportunity
• Gratis Hours: 2 hours

Call & Case Details
• 24-hour beeper call coverage
• No outpatient clinic responsibilities
• Average 3–4 callback cases per week
• Estimated 8 hours of surgery per callback case
• Primary call volume comes from the Emergency Department and Surgical Services
• Level II Trauma Center

Case Mix
Ideal candidates should have strong experience managing:
• High-acuity trauma cases
• Spine injuries
• Cranial procedures (craniotomies)
• Neurosurgical ICU patients
o Closed ICU model (ICU physicians manage primary care)

Support Team
• 1 Full-Time Neurosurgeon
• 2 Part-Time Neurosurgeons
• 2 Advanced Practice Providers (APPs)
• Robust inpatient support from:
o Hospitalists
o Trauma Surgeons
o USC-affiliated Medical Residents
Coverage is needed to provide scheduled time off for the full-time neurosurgeon.

• Significant trauma and spine experience required
