Neurocritical Care NP/PA Needed in Louisiana:
Start Date: April 2026
Contract Length: 3 months ongoing
Schedule: 3 night shifts per week
• Patient Population: Adult Neuro ICU patients (18+) with primary neurologic diagnoses
• Unit: Closed Neuro ICU with 24/7 APP coverage and neurointensivist support (daily rounds, overnight call)
• Hospital: 446-bed Level I trauma, academic center; 16-bed Neuro ICU in downtown New Orleans
• EMR: Epic
• Core Responsibilities: Admit, manage, and discharge Neuro ICU patients; conduct daily rounds; document H&Ps, consults, progress notes, and discharge summaries; provide patient and family education; initiate consults and referrals
• Clinical Skills: Comprehensive critical care management including ventilator and hemodynamic monitoring, sedation/analgesia, neurologic exams and localization, stroke care (AIS, ICH, SAH), TBI, status epilepticus, ICP management, neuroimaging, EEG familiarity, cardiac arrest, and brain death determination
• Procedures: Minor wound care, I&D of superficial abscesses, dressing changes, drain/suture removal, NG tube placement, urinary catheterization, venipuncture, immunizations, airway support (BVM, LMA)
• Preferred Procedures: Central and arterial line placement, lumbar puncture; postoperative neurosurgical care (craniotomy/craniectomy, spine procedures, vascular stenting, aneurysm clipping/coiling); stroke pathway documentation (NIHSS, ICH score, Hunt & Hess); CT head, CXR, and ECG interpretation
• Practice Setting: Hospital-based Neuro ICU

Credentialing Timeframe: 60 days
Active LA License Required
